ive been over and over track running orders, while taking into account the limitations of vinyl. it needs to be a loud cut as anything increasing the chances of this music being played in clubs is a priority. the major development is, i d really like the a side at 45rpm, as before. as well as the extra volume, granular psychosis is an exciting prospect to be able to play at both speeds as its so fast. with this track list below, we re exceeding the time slightly for what i ve been advised is the best 45rpm quality. however, as zattrday has such a limited frequency range, that can be cut to take a very small part of the vinyl. i will talk to, about all this, and ultimately go with his advice of the best way to do this on the day. but i can say it will almost definitely happen like one of the two options below

early in 2014, copenhagens kenneth bager asked electronic wizard and remix entrepreneur ruf dug if he would make an album for his acclaimed balearic imprint music for dreams. that summer, ruf dug headed off to spend three months on the island of guadeloupe in the french caribbean. seizing the opportunity to live out his own compass point fantasy, he put together a portable studio that would fit into a suitcase - two half-rack synthesizers, a couple of effects units, his laptop and a 4-track cassette recorder. he set up the studio in the spare bedroom in a rented villa and spent the next 12 weeks watching the sun set and making the album. all tracks were written and recorded in guadeloupe, with nev cottee beaming in vocals and guitar parts for a couple of the tracks direct from the heart of mancunia, hooking into the powerful and long-standing musical relationship between manchester and that most famous of sunset islands ibiza

the second 12” from the burgeoning proto sites imprint comes from hungarian deconstructivist s olbricht. trancess plunges into hazy ambient techno and distorted house depths, exploring the gritty themes present in his recent cut for lobster theremin and the consistent body of work for the likes of opal tapes, gang of ducks, sicsic or his own farbwechsel imprint.

berlin based label schakal’s first ep comes from antialias, one of its two founders and is called -somber clarity-. the title track makes us think of the return into the early morning light, but could just as easily be a reminder to those dark and delirious hours that came before.

the original version is nothing short of a classic, but its as if the song had never been invited to a louie vega post-midnight global extravaganza. was the song not aware that spellbound dancing and high bpms were the standard for house music? normally, such a blaring disregard for nightlife decorum would relegate a song to the pits of sonic hell, but we’re talking about george clinton here! the original opens up with a g-funk groove that screams westside and lowriders. the listener is then blessed with clinton as he adds his sage, soulful and pimpadelic vocals, complemented by funkadelic singers asking him about the pains of the funk. the semblance of a beat that could drive the dancefloor into the morning hours is there, but in no way has it blossomed into its full glory. enter louie vega.

two of house music s finest and most respected artists, kiko navarro & dj fudge, join up for a magnificent debut outing on large music. created over a period of two days in the hong kong studio of dj fudge, each track showcases sublime chords, elegant grooves and classic summer vibes. the b side cut limbo even edges into more minimalist territory while still preserving the emotive elements. as a bonus we enlist large artists purple velvet for a deep house rework of anyway i want in their trademark chunky style.

last time round for finale, it was label boss michael zucker offering some rare insight into his prowess behind the buttons. here zucker adopts the more familiar curatorial role, easing the finale focus towards the new generation of parisian artists prospering in the french capital. ka one & st sene oversee the prospering flyance records and arrive on finale with the french connection 12inch after a recent turn out on london s ornate music. the four tracks suggest ka one & st sene are developing into a truly diverse production unit, with the crisp motor city utopia of smokin joint a particular highlight.

markantonio can rightly be described as one of italys true techno titans, working tirelessly as he has since the late nineties to bring the tougher side electronic music into the light. recording for labels such as marco carolas design music, billy nastys tortured records and umeks recycled loops, markantonio has spent the last 16 years on the cutting edge of quality techno but it was with the launch of his analytic trail imprint in 2001 that he perhaps truly came into his own.

moscow017 sees archie hamilton release his first solo ep on the label since it s creation, five years ago. the opening track was written at the end of a summer season spent in ibiza s cala vadella. it s intricate bass, percussion and emotive tones capture the mystery of this beautiful part of the island, putting the listener into a hypnotic state over it s 12 minute journey. contrarily, 21514 was written in the uk during the spring (the clue is in the title) micro house percussion is paired with dreamy synths and growling bass in perfect harmony to create 7 minutes of wonder. romania s priku lends a hand on the remix, adding a sense of dance floor aggression but without loosing the original character of the track.

lukas simmer has a solid grounding in the world of composing and producing music. is making his debut here on jesus was black with this strong package, imperfections ep. this album accomplishes dark deep style with a growing atmosphere that evolves into a psychedelic sound. nima gorji round off the package, delivering a wonderfully restrained remix, very deep and laden with low subby bass tones.

the fourth and final edition of schleiben is an extra special one, bringing forth acollaborative project between colin potter of nurse with wound fame, not waving artist alessio natalizia and brain machine s guido zen. furthermore the series ties with dusseldorf remain, as osnabruck based producer niklas rehme-schluter lines the flip with the beautiful ambient touches of his cass project. the two part efforts from potter, natalizia and zen offer a perfect marriage of methods, with percussion hinting at and techno, while the constant drone influx and disintegration grab your attention, overlapping with rhythmic repetition deeper and deeper. the cass contributions see tracks from the german artists cassette only hiding place album presented on vinyl for the first time and fit snugly into the sonic ethos explored over the previous schleiben releases

shapeshifter is the second ep by aurora halal, artist and creator of ny s mutual dreaming parties & the sustain-release festival. the ep dives deeper into the unique sound world introduced by last years passageway, its 5 tracks a deftly conjured ride through liquid emotive states. shimmering waves of dark hypnotic energy rise and fall, evoking both synthetic plasmoid menace and soft sighing warmth, all brought to life by halals nuanced and rapidly evolving sound design.

up next on made of concrete is gathaspar with his gathsoland ep. with straight sounds and dark beats, gathaspar takes it down to the realm of shades. after the vocal heavy intro of gathsoland the subkick abducts you into areas of unknown soundscapes. through the stormy pads of the vision in cooperation with echologist the ep is brought down to a round figure by the combination of traditional elements of techno and modern interfaces in the last track the lover of ursa major.

founded in september 1981 in orléans, and originally dedicated to a kind of ‘modern punk rock’, d.stop released a first 7’’ the following year. this impossible-to-find debut release is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. the three tracks of the original 7’’ are augmented with 4 tracks that are released on vinyl for the first time ever on this very nice translucent vinyl 10’’ plus download code. after this first 7”, sonny brailleur (vocals) + phil lethon (guitar/bass) + klod lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines) , inspired by french band metal urbain, stylistically transformed into a more ‘synth punk’ kind of outfit and released their first mini-album nouvelles du front in september 1983 that has been reissued by desire on vinyl last september. one year after, the band already ceased to exist – or actually changed the name to les visiteurs du soir – to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited cassette. despite the very few releases by this gifted act, d.stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in french cold wave.

ambivalent adapts the raw hardware strategies of his la-4a alias into peak-time analog techno. truncate is on remix duty and delivers one of his power techno productions to top the release off. nice going for this fresh new label!

nicolas villebrun, half of society of silence and acid square dance, is putting out his first solo album on fragil musique, accurately titled « snare roll lp ». villebrun only needed a couple of recording sessions during a short period of time, to put the whole thing out from a unique set up. although an accomplished musician, tite seems to leave his technical skills aside when crafting his music, embracing all the spontaneity one would expect from a techno producer. listening to the lp, the title starts to make sense. when the snares are not rolling, the smooth basslines take over, strongly dragging bodies towards the dance floor. hungry man, move into hell, a white track, and the amazing the bell glides are among those. basslines curved as a horse s behind, subtly swifting through the air, are playing around with smartly spread out rhythms and textures. tite comes up with nine commonly grounded tracks, but with the necessary talent and sharpness to produce a resolutely fine, homogeneous, and yet diversified techno lp.

the third release on interzona13 s sister label outerzona13... black s debut was one of our best-selling 12 s of last year, so this highly anticipated follow up couldn t come soon enough ! edits ? yes, but out of the ordinary, and out of this world - a ron hardy staple teleports into the 21st century, elsewhere devastatingly good afro-soul is sure to work those thighs, and wrapping things up we get an impossible to resist, sultry, cosmic jazz-funk workout like no other. another keeper on this fine label !

returning to hakt after his 2013 single n1, cale parks continues to chart a compelling new path with the lagoon fool ep, his second foray into solo production. as the current drummer for yeasayer and a prolific collaborator both in studio and live, cale’s creativity knows no genre. the five tracks on offer sneak from the beaten path, complicating signifiers of style, gently tweaking the standard grammar of club music, and remaining accessible all the while. assembled in his brooklyn studio, but sonically sourced from his grandparents’ tennessee farm, lagoon fool carries that sublime, somehow inviting ethos of the appalachian range. airy and tectonic at once, impeccably detailed, yet easily taken as a whole, it’s a rich, deceptively layered listen. as a skilled songwriter and a produce quickly proving his caliber, cale has composed a suite that demands multiple listens and a place at peaktime just the same
